Dr Zeke Steer founder of Milbotix company launched his business in February 2020. His great-grandmother was suffering from Dementia. Seeing her suffer, Zeke started looking for technological solutions.
He worked at Bristol Robotics Laboratory and finally came up with Smart Socks. The socks track heart rate, sweat levels and motion and enable carers to intervene before things escalate.Dr Steer said: "The foot is actually a great place to collect data about stress, and socks are a familiar piece of clothing that people wear every day." The Smart Socks are beneficial for the following reasons:

How Smart Socks Work ?
According to Milbotix, different steps are followed to help people with dementia:
Milbotix app
The Milbotix app is installed on a smartphone. Scanning the QR code on the SmartSocks™ effortlessly connects them to the Wi-Fi network.
Sensor
A sensor embedded in one of the SmartSocks™ collects physiological data from the foot and the ankle of the person being monitored.
Data
The sensor data is transmitted wirelessly to a secure cloud platform.
Processing
Sophisticated algorithms (patent pending) process the sensor data, estimating the likelihood that the person wearing the SmartSocks™ is experiencing distress.
Alerts
The care team is alerted to distress through the Milbotix app.
Response
The care team intervenes to de-escalate the situation.
Similar to Milbotix company, there are other researchers who are working on smart devices to help people suffering from different diseases.
