Apple to Discontinue its services older software

In a recent announcement, tech giant Apple has revealed that it will shut down its services on devices running older software versions, including older iOS, tvOS, macOS, and watchOS versions. The changes are set to take effect in early May.

According to reports by MacRumors, a leaker known as Stella Fudge has stated that access to Apple services, with the exception of iCloud, will no longer work on devices running outdated software. She tweeted.

"As of early May, access to Apple services, except iCloud, will stop working on devices running: -- iOS 11-11.2.6, macOS 10.13-10.13.3, watchOS 4-4.2.3, and tvOS 11-11.2.6. You'll likely receive a notification prompting you to update,"

Although the change will only impact a small percentage of users, the tech giant has not provided a clear explanation for why the majority of its services will cease functioning on devices running outdated software versions that were released between late 2017 and early 2018.

Additionally, an internal document from Apple last month revealed that impacted users may receive a push notification encouraging them to update their device to a newer software version, according to the report.

"Some older software versions will no longer support Apple Services like the App Store, Siri, and Maps. Update your software to the latest available version to continue using these services," the company said.
